February New Release: Eat Drink Paleo Cookbook

While traditional cookbooks are still the staple of our cookbook section, there has been a rise in the number of books aimed at people who want to take a healthier lifestyle approach to their eating while still having a cookbook where the recipes are accessible and the book is beautiful to look at.

The new book by Irena Macri, Eat Drink Paleo Cookbook ($34.99) will be a lovely new addition to our range when it arrives in store on 28th January. Irena started her blog (which has the same name as the book) in 2012, to provide inspiration and tools to people who want to achieve better health and wellbeing through Paleo/Primal nutrition and lifestyle. She wanted to make it accessible for everyone and not to be seen as a fad – where you can incorporate as much of the philosophy into your lifestyle as you desire. Thus the cookbook includes recipes such as hazelnut pancakes with blood orange syrup for breakfast, pulled-pork tacos for dinner and the yummy sounding chilli chocolate mousse for dessert.

I personally like the fact that she has a relaxed approach to the diet.  On her blog, she talks about “cheeky Paleo” – how a strict Paleo diet can be hard to maintain in the long term and she indulges now and again with non-Paleo food.  What makes any lifestyle change work is to do what works for you and this will be different for different people.  This is an approach that makes me think that I will be taking a copy of this book home to try out some of the recipes.  Maybe she can convert me to introducing more of this style of cooking into my family’s meal plan.
