At the beginning of the year I’m always looking to see what others have thought to be the best reads for 2010. I thought I would share with you some of the lists that I have found:
- New York Times 100 Notable Books for 2010
- The Age and Sydney Morning Herald Best Books of 2010
- The Guardian newspaper’s list from UK personalities
- Goodreads Readers’ Choice 2010
My favourites have been (click the links to see my reviews):
- The Lotus Eaters – Tatjana Soli
- To the End of the Land, David Grossman
- Bereft by Chris Wormersley (April’s store book club title)
My favourites that don’t appear on these lists as they were not necessarily first released in 2010:
- Black Water Rising, Attica Locke
- The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo (as well as his other Harry Hole novels)
- Kindling, Darren Groth
- Let the Great World Spin, Colum MacCann
On my “to-read” list, I still have:
- Hand Me Down World, Lloyd Jones (see author video on Bayside Reader blog)
- The Well at the End of the World, A. J. MacKinnon
- The Report, Jessica Francis Kane
- So What If I’m Broken, Anna McPartlin
Hope these might give you all some inspiration.
